Gunfire Erupts at Howe Park Wounds 4 Shot in the Arden-Arcade Section of Sacramento County

Sacramento County deputies are examining a violent incident that unfolded late Saturday at Howe Park just Arden Arcade shooting April 2026 as Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies were breaking up an unauthorized event of an estimated several hundred individuals.

Before the Gunfire

Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies initially got calls about the park on Howe Avenue at approximately 6:30 PM on April 18 after learning of persons possibly in possession of concealed weapons. Following that, additional information came in mentioning a possible fight breaking out near the park.

Air support searched from above but could not confirm any ongoing fight. Regardless, it was apparent that a crowd of several hundred had come together at the location without permission.

When the Shots Rang Out

Officers worked to disperse the crowd by forming a perimeter and announcing over their public address systems directing the assembled crowd to vacate the area. Around 15 minutes were allotted for individuals to vacate.

While deputies worked to disperse the gathering that 20 to 25 rounds of ammunition were fired. The sudden gunfire sparked chaos as hundreds ran. Law enforcement at once began locating gunshot victims.

Four Gunshot Victims

Altogether, four victims were found to have been shot. The four individuals — comprising three men and one woman ranging in age through their in their mid to late twenties — were taken to hospitals in the Sacramento area. Medical personnel confirmed that two had critical injury classifications, one sustained moderate wounds, and one had injuries classified as minor. As of last report, each of the four victims was stable.

Sacramento Metro Fire arrived on scene and provided medical assistance the four victims before they were taken to the hospital.

Evidence at the Scene

The main crime scene was believed to have been concentrated adjacent to Cottage Way adjacent to the local Home Depot on the 2200 block of Howe Ave. Detectives found extra shell casings on the Cottage Way roadway. Projectile impacts were discovered in the iron perimeter fence bordering the Home Depot store. These findings pointed to that a second shooter had been discharging rounds toward the south from the Cottage Way area targeting the Home Depot store. The nearby Home Depot was placed on lockdown while the scene was active. CSI units alongside detectives stayed at the location through the early morning hours.

Detainees in Solano County

Details gathered through law enforcement radio communications indicated that a Kia was intercepted in an area within Solano County. Four individuals were in the vehicle at the time of the stop. Deputies were dispatched to Solano County to bring the suspects back for formal questioning. Video that was reviewed made clear that two separate shooters participated in the incident.
